Northern Hospital Modular Build

PROFINISH Fire Protection worked with the Victorian Government and Kane Constructions to implement multiple passive fire protection solutions to the Northern Hospital expansion in Epping.

Treating over 100,000 patients a year, Melbourne’s Northern Hospital in Epping underwent an expansion to meet the increasing demand of growth along the Northern corridor. This modular build streamlined the construction process through the fabrication of steel frames completed and treated off-site before being delivered and assembled.

In stage 2 of the project, we installed a Promat Systempanel 2G to modular steel frames which comprises of 1 layer of 18mm FC sheet and 1 layer of SYSTEMPANEL® to the flooring and 2 layers of 15mm Promatect 100 to the ceiling. We also installed Promatect 250 to columns and beams.

At the building site location, we worked in partnership with leading construction company Lendlease, installing Promaseal A sealant along with IBS strips to all the joins in the modules. Now complete, Northern Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility with a greater capacity, more critical care units, research labs and medical imaging services.
