Burwood East Retirement Village

PROFINISH Fire Protection has been working with Ryman Healthcare to implement fire sealing penetration works at the new Burwood East Retirement Village.

We have been coordinating and applying a range of sealants, treatments and wraps while carrying out inspections and audits to deliver the required penetrations register. We worked on multiple stories throughout the building to ensure compliant passive fire safety measures are in place on every level.

Our fire sealing of service penetrations works included:  

  • Smoke Sealing from Ground to Level 3 to Corridor Smoke Doors 
  • Fire Rated Caulking behind all fire door frames (jambs and headers)
  • Wall Penetrations:
    – Treatment around penetrations in fire walls with fire sealant or collars
    – (Electrical) Treatment around Boss Fyre boxes with fire sealant or collars
    –     (Fire Protection Works) Inspection, sealing & registering of fire sprinkler pipework
    –     (Electrical) Inspection, sealing & registering of various cable feeds down apartment walls
    – (Mechanical) Refrigerant Pipes, Mechanical Dampers
    – (Plumbing) Hydraulic PVC Pipes and PEX Pipes – waterlines and drainage lines, inspection, sealing & registering of fire plumbing pipework
    – Fire-rating of PVC pipes Into Apartments & Gal Pipes into Comms Rooms 
  • Floor Penetrations:
    – Treatment around penetrations in slabs with fire sealant or collars
    – (Electrical) Inspection, sealing & registering of cable tray
    – (Mechanical) Mechanical Risers – duct risers
    –     Supply and Installation of Lift Shaft Fire Dampers
    –     Fire rating – 120 minutes
    – Various penetration protection products from PROMAT or TBA Firefly 

Included in the above is the inspection of the penetrations, sealing and the registration of the penetrations for future maintenance and reference.
